Our Mission Statement

To provide quality affordable rental housing for families, seniors and other individuals with limited incomes; to strengthen neighborhoods by offering expanded asset-building opportunities, in particular, affordable homeownership; and to enhance the economic well-being of residents of DHIC communities and low-wealth neighborhoods.

Description

DHIC is a nonprofit developer of affordable housing and we work to create and preserve quality, safe, and afffordable housnig options for seniors, families, and individuals of low- to moderate-incomes.

Currently, we have 33 properties throughout the Triangle, primarily in Wake County, and we currently serve over 1,800 adults and 800 children pre-k thru 12th grade.

Through partnerships and volunteer outreach, we facilitate a resident services program that focuses on Youth Programs, Community Engagement, Health and Financial Wellness, and Positive Senior Well-being. The programs are designed to enrich and improve the quality of life of our residents.

Through our Homeownership Center, we offer comprehensive advisory and educational training and workshops for individuals, regardless of income level, interested in rebuilding their credit and/or learning more about purchasing their first home. We also provide foreclousre prevention service to those at-risk of losing their home.
