Description

WHCC provides emergency shelter, childcare and transitional housing. The Wesley House Homeless Shelter is a sixty-eight (68)-bed emergency shelter facility, opened in 1991, serving homeless families and single women. In addition to providing over 200 persons with homeless services during the year, the Wesley House provides additional support services designed to move clients along the continuum of care to self-sufficiency and to provide them with basic needs. In January 2005, WHCC opened a new state-of-the-art childcare facility directly adjacent to the Wesley House Shelter. The Kidz First Early Childhood Learning Center focuses on the special needs of families from homeless shelters and transitional housing facilities as well as the surrounding neighborhood. In 2007, WHCC began providing site-based transitional housing at 615 W. 9 th Street in Chester. The site includes 4 units dedicated to helping homeless families transition from emergency shelter to permanent housing.
