Description

Lancaster County First Steps is a comprehensive, results-oriented early education initiative to help prepare our children to reach first grade healthy and ready to succeed. Signed into law in June 1999, First Steps is for pre-first grade children and their families in Lancaster County. Public and private support are combined to address the unmet needs of young children and their families in our community. Programs administered include but are not limited to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, Countdown to Kindergarten School Transition Program and the Weekend Backpack Feeding Program. Services and programs are designed to increase parental access to the support they need to strengthen families and promote optimal development of their pre-school children.
