Mission Statement
Migration and Refugee Services (MRS), a program of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington, and an affiliate of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, has resettled thousands of documented refugees in the Northern Virginia community since 1975. We welcome people of all races, nationalities and creeds to our community.
Today, we are more committed than ever to our mission of "welcoming the stranger" into our Northern Virginia community. MRS seeks to serve with compassion and provide a supportive environment in which the dignity of each person is respected and each culture celebrated, aiming always to provide individuals with the tools needed for self-sufficiency and independence in America.
Description
MRS provides a wide range of services including:
Orientation
Counseling and acculturation services
Housing, furniture and all basic needs during the first 30 days after arrival
Tutoring/mentoring for students
Transportation
Referrals to Social Services, health services, and ESL classes
Interpretation services
School registration assistance
Employment support
Assistance in applying for citizenship and with citizenship test preparation
