Mission Statement

The Animal Awareness Society (TAAS) is based out of Randleman N.C., and we are a non-profit, no-kill, all volunteer organization formed in 2003. TAAS strives to end the unnecessary suffering and deaths of cats and kittens, dogs and puppies that have been abandoned, unwanted or cats/kittens that are feral (not socialized) in our community. TAAS works to reduce the number of stray, homeless and feral cats through low cost spay/neuter, foster and adoption programs, pet care education, and T-N-R (Trap-Neuter-Return). TAAS consists soley of volunteers who foster animals out of their homes. TAAS believes there is an alternative to euthanasia and a better way to deal with the over-population of animals.

Description

We have an immediate opening for a volunteer to help clean the habitat every Friday at PETCO, Inc., located on W. Wendover Ave. near I-40. We have cats and kittens who are available for adoption in the habitat a week at a time. This volunteer job cleans the habitat, fills the food, changes the water, and socializes and plays with the cats. We ask for an hour of your time once a week. You must be able to lift 20-40# occasionally and not be allergic to cats or kittens. Please call if you are interested in helping out our feline friends!

Our next Rabies Clinic will be held on Saturday, June 25th from 9a-2p at Riders In The Country, 5701 Randleman Rd., Randleman, NC. If you would like to volunteer to help out, there are many varieties of volunteer opportunities at our clinics especially being able to write Rabies Vaccination Certificates, helping direct traffic, both people and cars, assisting with animal handling and helping check people/animals in for their vaccinations. Please call our office to volunteer-336-498-6013. Thank you!

The Animal Awareness Society (TAAS) is dedicated to reducing the number of unwanted and abandoned cats, kittens, dogs and puppies in the area through spaying and neutering. We educate people in an attempt to educate the citizens of the Triad about local animal laws, animal care, the benefits of spaying and neutering.

Great organization doing great things! And I get to play with kitties one day a week, while cleaning the habitat in an effort to get the kitties adopted. Life is good :)
