Mission Statement

The Palmetto Club is a charitable organization. Our mission is to support our local community.

Description

Our primary financial support goes to The American Cancer Society to be used in cancer research. Our major fundraising activity for this event is an annual fashion show held at The Palmetto club. In addition to the net from the price of the ticket, we have a boutique, play 50/50, and this year we had a lovely basket filled with "goodies" that we raffled. We also have an account that was bequeathed to The Palmetto Club to be used for cancer research that we pull money from if needed to meet our annual contribution goal of $6000. We sometimes have additional fund raising activity in the name of cancer.

We give three (3) $1000 education scholarships to 3 young ladies, one from Mainland, Atlantic, and Seabreeze High Schools. The money for these scholarships comes from personal donations from club members.

Our members on a monthly basis provide clothing and other items for Mid Florida Housing Partnership, Inc. aka The Palmetto House, a local rehabilitation center for the homeless who are getting back on their feet.

Our members also provide on a monthly basis food and linens for the Humane Society.

Our members provide on a monthly basis food for the needy by donating to the Halifax Urban Ministries. We also in 2012 donated the lights we replaced in our main ballroom to Halifax Urban Ministry to be sold in their resell store.

Annually at Christmas time, we entertain three (3) area nursing homes with refreshments, give them lap blankets made by our members, and provide entertainment from Turie T. Small Elementary School.

We provide the transportation of the students from Turie T. Small and feed them lunch for the annual Nursing Home Party. We have a special fund raiser to collect the money needed for this event. We also pay for educational materials for Turie T. Small students used in their classrooms.

We have also provided funding and/or needed items to the Children’s Advocacy, Children’s Home Society of Florida, Pregnancy Crisis Center, and the Domestic Abuse Counseling organizations. This funding is provided by hosting and selling tables for an annual flea market in the Palmetto Club building, boutiques at the monthly meetings, raffles, 50/50, and donations made to a special fund in honor of a members’ birthday, a thank you, or memorials.
