Fairytale Brides on a Shoestring Boutique, Inc. is a DC area non-profit Bridal Shop offering reduced prices for bridal gowns and accessories in an relaxed yet supportive atmosphere. This full service boutique helps Brides to achieve the wedding of their dreams while keeping the emphasis on the wedding couple and not unmanageable expense. All proceeds collected will go towards empowering other women both here and abroad. Our donations will go to the Victim's Rights Foundation helping to fund the building of a girls school in West Kenya, Suited for Change to help women return to the work force and funding scholarships for local high school students to attend Montgomery College.
We are a group of innovative, educated, and talented women who are interested in working with Bridal families on a low budget at our beautiful brand new shop in Rockville. We work with donated items. We are interested in many more volunteers who believe in serving our community.
I am not an extroverted individual and tend to step back and learn about the people. I felt the group (not everyone) held a preconceived disposition of you once you had laid, a mere, one aspect of yourself out on the table.
I believe the group is more for volunteers who have free time on their hands and like to chat than for an individual looking to pad their resumes and/or looking for experience. There is not much regard for the faux-pas of conversational norms, as a heads up.
All that said, to each their own. This is my "maybe" review; there is another "very likely" one.
Fairytale Brides on a Shoestring is a unique nonprofit. As a volunter you have the experience of working in a bridal boutique setting knowing that net proceeds are being donated to charity. As a recent empty nester I found myself with extra time. This job had flexible hours, a fun environment ( say yes to the dress! ), and the opportunity to help this rather new nonprofit grow.I would recommend this volunteer job to women who are interested in fashion and nonprofits. I hear from other volunteers who wish it was their "real: job because they have so much fun there!
