Mission Statement

Ascension Tutoring strives to provide academic support for students who request assistance with their educational and cultural development. We hope to enrich the lives of students and tutors through the process of developing a meaningful, working relationship.

Description

We provide tutoring to New York city students from local schools. Each volunteer is partnered with a student for the semester or school year from September through Memorial Day. We meet on Mondays from 5:15 to 6:15 when public schools are in session.

Tutors help students with homework and develop a rewarding relationship built on sharing. Tutors have a wealth of knowlegde and life experience that enriches the lives of students who may not have the opportunity to travel or attend cultural events that the city has to offer. In return each tutor is enriched by knowing a wonderful student who is responsive and eager to learn.
