Mission Statement

The mission of API Legal Outreach is to provide holistic, culturally competent and linguistically appropriate services to ensure social justice for the most marginalized segments of the API community including immigrants, women, seniors, and youth.

Through these community-based services, API Legal Outreach promotes the development, empowerment, and self-reliance of the community and breaks the cycle of violence against women, youth and seniors.

Description

Established in 1975, API Legal Outreach provides legal representation and social services, training and technical support, and community education and outreach in areas including immigration, domestic violence/family law, elder abuse, consumer finance, and housing. API Legal Outreach provides legal services through representation, free monthly legal clinics, and a legal hotline that is staffed daily by an attorney.

API Legal Outreach has a staff of 23 employees, assisted by more than 135 volunteers, based at offices in San Francisco and Oakland. The agency has more than 20 collaborative partner agencies throughout the Bay Area in fields including domestic violence, human trafficking, elder law, and immigration. The agency also works with many law clerks, volunteer attorneys, pro bono attorneys, and non-legal volunteers to provide legal services, raise funds through events, and conduct outreach to underserved communities.
