Each year the Boys & Girls Club of Bloomfield continues to advance its mission of:
Inspiring and enabling all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
The Boys & Girls Club of Bloomfield serves youth ages 6-18 years regardless of gender, background, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status. Approximately 75% of youth the Club serves can be classified as "at-risk" for a variety of reasons, including income, family status, and problems at school, at home or with law enforcement.
Our goal is to incorporate our mission statement, along with our five Core Program Areas; 1) character and leadership development, 2) education and career development, 3) health and life skills, 4) the arts and sports, and finally 5) fitness and recreation to provide a positive environment that is children, family, and community focused.
The Boys & Girls Club of Bloomfield is the only organization for youth in Bloomfield and the surrounding rural areas. Therefore, without our programs, youth often have nowhere safe to go after school, during holiday breaks and during the summer months.
We have recently celebrated the first year in our new facility. With the opening of our new facility we have seen our daily numbers increase from 30-75 youth per day to 135-160 youth per day. To better accommodate our youth and their families we have also extended our program hours to 7:00 pm Monday - Friday. Additionally, the Club often hosts activities on the weekends. We encourage families to participate in activities together, increasing the youth in our community's chances of success later in life. In the last year we have been blessed to serve our youth, their families and our community with our programs. Our youth benefit, therefore the community benefits.
We offer homework assistance and tutoring, art classes, computer classes, sport programs (including boys and girls basketball leagues, cheerleading, archery, hip hop dancing, boxing, volleyball, etc.), as well as guidance in social and life skills, drug and gang prevention, community awareness and service as well as countless other programs.
In a world that seems threatening and lacking promise for many of America's children, the Boys & Girls Club of Bloomfieldprovides a tangible measure of hope. The Club offers young people what they need and want most: adults who respect and listen to them; a safe environment where they can have fun and be themselves; and interesting, constructive activities that channel their energy into challenging pursuits. All Boys & Girls Club programs are based on a youth development strategy that builds self-confidence and self-esteem, and fosters a sense of belonging, competence, usefulness and influence.
Through our programs we continue to see many lives change for the better. The goal of the Boys & Girls Club of Bloomfield is to continue to make a difference in the lives of our community's youth.
