Mission Statement

The Florida Museum of Natural History, located at the University of Florida, is Florida's state museum of natural history, dedicated to understanding, preserving and interpreting biological diversity and cultural heritage.

Description

The functions of the Florida Museum of Natural History are to make scientific investigations toward the sustained development of natural resources and a greater appreciation of human cultural heritage. This includes research and analyses of collections of biological, archaeological, and ethnographic specimens and materials, maintenance of those collections, and educational programming which interprets those collections to the public.
