Mission Statement

As a non-denominational, non-sectarian, non-profit organization, Jones Memorial Communtiy Center strengthens family ties, emphasizes the worth of God's children and answers a human need. The activites of the Jones Memorial Community Center have been modified and expanded over the years to meet the changing needs of the communities it serves. Its primary mission continues to be a neighbor to those who are lonely, poor or with little or no hope in their lives, and a social center for worship, education, and recreation. Jones memorial Communtiy Center remains a mission unit of Chicago Presbyter and is a member of the South Suburban United Way.

The Jones Memorial Community Center is located on the East Side of Chicago Heights, IL. The majority of the residents that we serve are low-income familes. Our two after-school programs target students from School districts 170 and 206. Every day, children come to our center, for homework help, fun and games, a snack, and also dinner. We also have a bilingual computer class that meets every Friday. Senior citizens of the community can join our Golden Agers Club. Each month we have a specail luncheon for them, they receive a monthly news letter, and they attend various field trips throughout the year. The Center also has a pantry, and a clothing room that we fill from donations. Persons in need can get one abag of groceries a month and go to our clothing room if needed.
