Mission Statement

Our mission is to keep families together. The Center for Family Representation provides free legal and social work services to enable children from vulnerable families to live with their parents safely. We believe that every family matters.

Description

CFR provides families in crisis in NYC with an innovative team model of service consisting of a lawyer, a social worker, and a parent advocate. Working in the Manhattan and Queens Family Courts with parents involved in child welfare cases, we work to keep children from being placed in the foster care system and when foster care is inevitable, to keep their time away from their family to a minimum. We also provide training to child welfare professionals around the country, participate in court improvement projects, and work on legislation and policy initiatives that affect vulnerable families at all levels of government.
