Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry, seeking to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.To accomplish these goals, people of all backgrounds, races and religions are invited to build houses together in partnership with families in need.

At the local community level, Habitat for Humanity's work is accomplished by affiliates - independent, locally run, non-profit organizations. Each affiliate coordinates all aspects of Habitat home building in its local area - fund raising, building site selection, partner family selection and support, house construction and mortgage servicing.

The LaGrange Habitat ReStore accepts new and gently used goods for resale. While every ReStore is different, the LaGrange ReStore focuses on home improvement, goods - furniture, home accessories, building materials and appliances. These donated items are sold to the public at a fraction of the retail price to help offset construction costs.
