Mission Statement
Evergreen Museum & Library is at once a prestigious collection of fine and decorative arts, rare books and manuscripts assembled by two generations of the philanthropic Garrett family, and a vibrant, innovative venue for contemporary artists. Housed in a stunning Gilded Age mansion on 26 landscaped and wooded acres, Evergreen provides an unusual backdrop for the viewing of art.
Description
Evergreen's 48 opulent rooms contain over 50,000 objects, including works by Picasso, Degas, Dufy, Covarrubias and Modigliani, Tiffany glass, Chinese porcelain, Japanese laquerware, rare books, and a private theatre designed by Ballet Russes impresario Leon Bakst. As one of the Johns Hopkins University Museums, Evergreen invites visitors, artists, educators, students and community members to discover its collections year-round through an array of lively changing exhibitions, concerts, lectures, and other programs.
