Mission Statement

Rotary is a service organization founded in 1905 by Paul Harris. It is an organization of business and professional people united worldwide, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Rotary has no political or religious affiliation. There are over 1.2 Rotarians in 31 thousand Clubs in 529 Districts in 167 countries. Rotarians initiate community projects that address many of today's most critical issues: violence, drug abuse, youth, AIDS, hunger, the environment and illiteracy. Rotary clubs are automnomous and determine service projects based on needs.

Description

The Rotary Foundation is unique among service/volunteer organizations in that it provides an opportunity for Rotarians to work for international understanding and peace. Some of the programs are: Polio Plus--a commitment to end polio world wide, Humanitarian projects which provide healthcare and supplies, clean water, food, job training and education. Educational programs providing international scholarships. Wrightsville Rotary provides the following services to our local community: Dollars for Scholars for local school district, send all 4th grades in school district to the Susan P Byrnes Health Education Center, Junior Achievement Exchange City for 5th grade, Student of the Month Program, Wrightsivlle Fire Company, Local libraries, Fourth of July Stay at Home event, Summer Recreation Program for Wrightsville children, Eastern Senior Center, Foreign exchange students, both inbound and outbound, etc.
