Mission Statement

To provide resources and services to child victims of sexual abuse and severe physical abuse, their supportive family members, and the community through a Multidisciplinary Team approach while empowering all toward child abuse prevention. CARE House is Baldwin County's resource and referral source on child abuse.

Description

Children who are sexually and physically abused have to endure multiple interviews by lawyers, police, doctors, social workers and counselors. Often times these interviews are conducted in undesirable settings such as police stations, courthouses, and school hallways, none of which are conducive to the emotional well being of children. In 1985, the Baldwin County Department of Human Resources, Sheriff's Department and District Attorney's office formed a Multi-Disciplinary Team in order to limit this lengthy and traumatic investigative process. It soon became evident that a central location was needed - one that would convey protection, comfort, dignity and care. CARE House opened its doors in 1989. CARE House continues to provide a child-friendly environment for the child victims of sexual abuse.
