Mission Statement

Everybody Dance Now! Hartford's mission is to bring the positive influence of dance to the city of Hartford, CT. We offer free dance programming to to local Hartford area children who may not otherwise have the funds, access, or parental support to engage in such activities. We believe that dance is a powerful and therapeutic activity that can empower youths to make positive choices, build self-esteem, instill confidence, and promote healthy living.

Description

Today, there are approximately 4,000 gang members in Hartford, with many kids joining gangs in their pre-teen/early teen years. In addition, nearly half of the city’s children live in poverty. As a result, many of Hartford’s youths lack the funds, access, or familial support to engage in healthy, positive activities such as dance - and many are at risk for joining a gang. We’re changing that. Everybody Dance Now! Hartford is providing kids with healthier outlets for self-expression that help build confidence, cultivate self-esteem, and make positive lifestyle choices.
