Mission Statement

The mission of the Sudden Infant Death Network of Ohio is to work towards the reduction and eventual elimination of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) through a multidisciplinary approach of: the promotion of infant health and wellness, community outreach, education, and medical research. In addition, the Sudden Infant Death Network is dedicated to providing supportive services to those who have been affected by the loss of a child, under the age of two years, from SIDS or Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID).

Description

The Sudden Infant Death (SID) Network provides a multitude of services targeted towards key audiences (child bearing age individuals, grandparents, infant caregivers, at-risk populations, health care and safety providers) within the state of Ohio. The Network's focus encompasses: risk reduction, education, community outreach, training, and bereavement services. Additionally, the SID Network serves on behalf of the Ohio Department of Health, as the intake agent for all sudden and unexpected infant deaths under the age of two. The Ohio Department of Health has also designated the Network to develop sustainable, effective strategies and initiatives to address racial disparities in SIDS and unexpected infant deaths within Ohio's African American community.
