Description

Helping Horses Help Kids

The Root Farm creates opportunity for special needs children and adolescents to:

· Receive physical therapy using the movement of horses as a treatment tool;
· Transcend the handicapped experience through a sense of belonging;
· Absorb the nonjudgmental acceptance of animal/human relationships; and
· Experience their entitlement as members of humankind, a community of walkers.

The Root Farm is a not-for-profit equine-assisted therapy center, founded in 1997 by Alice Root, PhD. Formerly known as Mud Creek Farm CEAT in Vernon Center, NY, the recent name change to Root Farm Foundation reflects our relocation, our legacy, and our change from a private operating foundation to a public charity.
