Mission Statement

The mission of the Berkeley Student Food Collective is to provide local, environmentally sustainable, and ethically produced food at affordable prices to the Berkeley campus and greater community. We educate students about nutrition and food systems, empower new leaders, and train youth to work in and manage a sustainable business. Through inclusive, democratic decision-making, we operate a cooperative market that promotes community-building and environmental stewardship.

Description

We were founded in 2010 as a result of a protest against a fast food chain that was going to be built on the UC Berkeley campus. We are a non-profit collective grocery store dedicated to selling foods and products that are community-based, eco-friendly, humane, and fair trade.
