Mission Statement

The Bear Creek Community Church Gardens Project mission is to help bring the community together, support sustainable food production, build community relationships through self-reliance, responsible environmental stewardship and care for the health and well being of all peoples. The Garden Projects group strives to provide leadership and support to all of its various participants taking into account the needs of all experience levels and addressing them with an interest of serving the whole through servings its parts.

The Garden Projects grows and produces an array of Organic and Natural Foods; teaches traditional and areoponic gardening; learns and understands whold food nutrition and its effects on individual health; conducts monthly events to inform and educate.

Local food pantries including Bear Creek Community Church are direct beneficiaries of the harvest from the gardens.

Description

The Bear Creek Community Church Gardens Project is the largest and only faith based community garden in the Irving, Texas area.

Opened in Spring 2013, the 40,000 plus square foot garden is entirely funded and subsidized by the Bear Creek Community Church, Dennis L. Webb, Sr. Pastor. The Garden Director is Gerald Taylor.

Located at 2700 Finley Road, Irving, Texas, the garden consists of approximately 30 raised beds; a Children's Garden with an Outdoor Learning Laboratory; A Pollinator Garden; On-Site Composting; a Pastoral and Meditation Garden; Planned Wounded Warrior Project ADA Compliant beds; Artists' Garden; and Artist Murals.

Church facilities provide space for indoor group meetings and seminars, full kitchen for demonstrations; classes and continuing education assisted by the City of Irving.

The Garden recently was recognized by the Mayor and City of Irving, Keep Irving Beautiful for contributions to the city as a faith based community garden.
