Patient and Family Support Volunteer

Patient care support volunteers help patients and families by providing companionship for hospice patients. This can be anything from sitting quietly with a bed-bound patient, to taking an active patient out of the home for errands etc. Patient care support volunteers may play cards or other games with the patient, read to them, or simply listen as the patient reflects on his or her life. In rural communities, there may be times when volunteers will have no assigned patients, but may be requested to be on call as needed as it fits into the volunteer's schedule.

Horizon Home Health and Hospice is committed to providing life changing services. As a Horizon hospice volunteer, there are a variety of opportunities to make a life changing difference in the lives of patients and their families. Our volunteers provide compassionate care to patients and caregivers throughout our seven branch offices throughout the area. This is done by reading books, yard work, companion and support care, pet therapy, playing the piano, singing or anything that brings comfort and a smile to the face of a patient or family member. If you or your family are looking for an opportunity to volunteer, I would love to talk to you about becoming part of our care team! We have regular volunteer orientations so call for schedules and more information. Come and learn what it takes to be a hospice volunteer and how you can bless the lives of others.
