We Run Twelve began its operation by addressing the weight loss issues plaguing our community and grew into more than just a running/walking club but an organization of many resources. We are residents born and raised near Roosevelt Rd (1200 South) who want more for our communities, like: programs to stimulate the minds of our children, resources to assist our parents, zero vacant lots and buildings, more affordable housing and thriving small businesses.
Many of us can remember when Sears, Roebuck and Co. was within walking distance; softball, skating and bowling were weekly activities for the children and Great America was a much anticipated annual trip, just to name a few. We can also remember when the children had a place to play and different events and tournaments were the norm. Nowadays, this is not the case; We Run Twelve wants to bring back those activities plus more. We want to give back to our community and make a difference in the place we call home.
Our journey at We Run Twelve is just beginning and we are already receiving positive feedback. In the coming months, we are planning many activities, events and programs that focus on health, education, job training and physical fitness. As We Run Twelve continue to evolve, we welcome your support and believe through our partnership, we will make a difference in our community and the lives of those we serve.
