I am a mom on a mission who started this 501c3 in 2009 in honor of my severely autistic daughter, Stephanie, who recently turned 21 and aged out of the school system and all of her residential supports. I wanted to raise the money to create an independent life home for her and two other women with autism so they would have a place of their own for life. More than just these three, what we are doing is groundbreaking and crucial as states continue to cut back on funding and support. There are little to no options for care and many parents are still young and must work. We have just purchased our first home in Chester Springs, PA. It needs a TON of work and manpower. We have very little left for renovations so we are counting on the love of volunteers to make this house a home that we can share with everyone in our community. This house will be a gathering place for parents and children, a model for other families who need to plan for their child's future. A social gathering spot for friendship, support and fun. We need contractors who can donate services for electrical, plumbing and construction. We need 3 bathrooms completely gutted. We have four bedrooms that all need to be painted and carpeted. The house exterior is peeling and needs aluminum siding. The entire downstairs needs laminate flooring installed. We will need all fixtures for bathrooms. We need painters. Someone to add on to the backyard deck so there is room for socializing. We need part of the yard fenced in. We need alarm system installed for safety. A partially finished basement needs to be completed. Chimney fixed. Holes in walls repaired. So much to do. And then we need stuff. EVERYTHING! From furniture to towels and dishes.
