Description

Ashanti House is a California State Licensed Residential Group Home Facility (RCL 9) located in Antioch, California for at risk teenage girls between the ages of 11-17 who have been abused, neglected and abandoned. More specifically Ashanti House provides a safe, encouraging and enriching living environment for pregnant or parenting mothers. All of the residents at Ashanti House have been placed by Department of Family Service Agencies or Juvenile Placement Agencies. It is our goal at Ashanti House to equip these young women with the proper tools and skills to adapt their lifestyle towards a healthier and brighter future for their families. At Ashanti House the young women learn necessary parenting skills, attend basic life skills classes, attend local high schools, and receive on-going therapeutic services. All of these services assist the young women in working towards dealing with their current and past living situations and move forward to being important members of our community.

In addition, to providing day-to-day care for teenage parents, Ashanti House also works to promote cultural, social and intellectual growth among local community members. Some of the outreach programs include, after-school tutoring for elementary and high school students; community-wide consultation and workshops on a variety of parenting issues; and educational and cultural extra-curricular activities and outings for families.
