Mission Statement

The mission of the Homeless Children's Playtime Project is to nurture healthy child development and reduce the effects of trauma among children living in emergency family shelters in the District of Columbia.

Description

The Homeless Children's Playtime Project is a coalition of concerned community members providing weekly activities, healthy snacks, and opportunities for play to the children at shelters and transitional housing programs in the District of Columbia. Through ten weekly children’s programs, volunteers provide playful games, chances to learn through art, movement and imaginative play, one-on-one attention and caring adult supervision for children, as well as support for the entire family with parent support and referrals, clothing and school supply donations, and chances to celebrate with holiday parties throughout the year.
