Our Playhouse Program brings groups together to support our mission of affordable housing solutions to create an impact beyond one generation. The Workshop is our day of event support for children’s playhouses that will be built by sponsoring organizations and donated to families and community charities. Volunteer space is limited. Scope of Work: Playhouse event support includes set up and tear down as well as leading corporate volunteers on building, painting and roofing the playhouses, depending on experience. Onsite training will be provided. Schedule: Playhouse events are largely scheduled during the weekdays with some Saturdays. Morning and afternoon shifts vary depending on the scheduled build. We will need you about an hour before and after builds at the warehouse and an hour before at builds offsite. Check in: Begins 30 mins before start time to allow enough time for Covid-19 screening protocols. Contact Tracing: Attendance is recorded strictly at the site to help facilitate contact tracing. Volunteers must report to Habitat staff if they experience Covid-19 symptoms or receive a positive diagnosis within 2 weeks of their volunteer day. Reports will be shared with others who worked that day but sources will remain anonymous. Location: Builds are usually at our San Francisco Bayview warehouse. On occasion, build can be offsite throughout San Francisco, Marin and San Mateo counties. Come Prepared: Dress for the weather and in clothing you don’t mind getting ruined, including sturdy, closed-toed footwear. Some builds are outdoors so please wear sunscreen and a hat. Masks are mandatory for indoor builds. Bring a water bottle. Transportation: Parking may be limited so be aware of posted rules. Carpool or take public transit if possible. Cancellations: We will notify you of any changes by phone, text or email. If rain is imminent and the build is no more than 2 playhouses, we may opt to bring it indoors. Age Requirement: All volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Minors must have their waiver signed by a parent/guardian.
