(1) Collect and put good-quality bicycles to productive re-use, transforming lives around the globe, (2) provide individuals, businesses, and community service organizations in the United States with tangible, educational, and satisfying community service opportunities -- collecting, sorting, prepping, and shipping valuable bicycles and spare parts.

Description

Bikes for the World is a network of individuals, community service organizations and faith communities, and businesses dedicated to collecting good-quality bicycles for productive re-use in developing countries. Bikes for the World has collected and donated more than 100,000 bicycles in 13 countries, including Sri Lanka (tsunami recovery), Ghana (micro enterprise development), Namibia (delivery of health services and micro enterprise development), Panama (training and employment for individuals with disabilities), Costa Rica (micro enterprise development), and Guatemala (youth development & vocational training).
