Mission Statement

Child Advocates San Antonio (CASA) - We recruit, train, and supervise court appointed volunteer advocates who provide constancy for abused and neglected children and youth while advocating for services and placement in a safe and permanent home

Simply put: CASA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of abused and neglected children through court-appointed volunteers who provide constancy while advocating for services and placement in safe and permanent homes.

Description

CASA Volunteer Advocates provide judges with a carefully researched background of the children they serve to help the court make a sound decision about the child's future whether that be living with the parent(s), remaining in foster care, or be freed for permanent adoption. Advocates work closely with, but independent of, Child Protective Services (CPS) and attorneys. The role of the Advocate is to be a fact-finder for the judge; to speak for the child in court, representing the child's best interest; and to continue to act as a "watchdog" for the child during the life of a case, ensuring that the child's needs are met and the case is resolved quickly and appropriately.
