Mission Statement

Description

Blazing a path for educational theatre in Northern New Mexico, SFPA celebrates our eighteenth year of operation. SFPA has made great strides in our eighteen years seeing an increase in need for the arts in education. We provide our community's "at risk" youth with a safe place for expression, bringing together people from our diverse communities who would not ordinarily work together. Through our educational programming, over 78% of the total "low income & minority" youth between the ages of six and 12 attending public school in our community are affected by our program. Participant demographics indicate that over 64% of the children served by SFPA are classified as "low-income" and "minority," While 84% of the youth serviced by SFPA are classified as "minority" including, Hispanics, Native-Americans and African-Americans. SFPA has a scholarship fund that provides financial assistance to children from low-income families who would like to participate in any of the on-site programs. Over 8,100 youth between the ages of six and 18 are effected every year. To better serve the diversity of our community, SFPA has made a commitment to providing bilingual productions.
