St. Olaf College GEAR UP

Description

GEAR UP is a federally funded, college preparatory program that works with 850 students at Harding High School and Humboldt High School. GEAR UP will continue working with students in the class of 2011 from through high school graduation if they attend Harding or Humboldt Senior High.

GEAR UP services include weekly classroom presentations on middle and high school planning, tutoring, mentoring, college visits, career visits to businesses, parent/guardian workshops, financial aid assistance, cultural events, summer camp, attendance and behavior interventions, as well as other college preparatory programming.

GEAR UP works closely with families, teachers, and community members to increase the number of low-income students that are prepared to succeed in a postsecondary program. GEAR UP does not recruit for St. Olaf College, instead, GEAR UP recruits for any postsecondary program.
