Mission Statement

Our mission is to recruit and train older adults as reading tutors and mentors for elementary school children in East Nashville, Inglewood, Madison, Old Hickory, Hermitage and Donelson.

Description

FLIP volunteers work for two hours a week during the school day as reading tutors and mentors with four children one-on-one in Metro elementary schools. Because of the close relationship tutors develop with the students, they serve as role models and mentors while they help them become better readers. Tutors commit to serve for the school year at a school near their home and at a time which is individually scheduled.
