Each adoption/foster application that GRRAND receives is screened by one of our volunteers. The application screening volunteer will assess the application to determine if the family meets GRRAND adoption requirements. The volunteer will also contact the 3 references to determine the care the family provides to current or previous pets. Finally, the volunteer will contact the applicant's vet to assess previous vet care. Once the volunteer reviews the application, they will send the information obtained to the volunteer coordinator. The application screening activity can all be done from home. Once the volunteer accepts an application to screen, we ask that it is completed as soon as possible in order to prevent losing the applicant to another rescue. Visit stores, boutiques, and other novelty places from March through May to request donations or gift certificates for the GRRAND Affair silent auction. Skills and Equipment Needed: We’re looking for people who are confident in asking for donations for our GRRAND Affair fundraiser. Good communication skills and some knowledge about our event are needed. The ability to maintain a list of locations visited along with addresses, manager’s name, etc., is important. Notes are important for each auction item acquired. GRRAND will provide packets to each volunteer with request letters, donation forms, and thank you letters. We will also provide volunteers with a list of last year’s donors. Training will be required and completed through Zoom or some other means of communication. Location: Proximity to your neighborhoods within the following locations: Louisville, Lexington, Cincinnati, Dayton, Southern Indiana, and Northern Kentucky.

GRRAND's Volunteer Family Tree Needs Additional Hands! Can you give us a hand? We are looking for folks to represent GRRAND at public events. The overall mission is to greet people at the event who want to know more about GRRAND. We have a variety of flyers to provide if someone is interested in volunteering, adopting or just curious about who we are. There are several volunteer needs at these events, and they are listed below. Each event is different and the resources required range from a simple set up to a more complex arrangement. You will be working with other people so don’t feel that you must have all the skills listed below. It’s a team effort! Outgoing personality with good communication skills Some knowledge about GRRAND and our mission Check-in assistance if a ticketed event Decorating Serving assistance if food and beverage served Set up and tear down tables, chairs, tents, or whatever equipment is needed for the event Volunteers are Needed for these Upcoming Events: October 16th, Bark in the Park, Seneca Park October/November 2021, Trivia Night (date & location to be announced) November 12, The GRRAND Affair, Mellwood Art Center February/March 2022 Have-a-Heart Celebration for GRRAND dogs adopted during 2020/2021 (date & location to be announced)
