Grooming - We have the equipment and the dogs. We just need you!

GRRAND needs volunteers to bathe and groom incoming rescue dogs prior to transferring them to foster or adoptive homes. Must be 18 years of age or older. Skills and Equipment Needed: We have a hydraulic grooming tub at our kennel, a blow dryer, grooming tools, and a grooming table. Grooming credentials required. Time Requirements: Team will work in pairs to accomplish this task. Some of these dogs just need a little fluffing and buffing while others need help with heavy matting or years of dirt buildup and poor skin condition. GRRAND’s grooming coordinator will work with you to meet your scheduling needs.

Dog Socialization Socialize and exercise dogs housed at the Louisville GRRAND facility (Must be 18+ years of age). Skills or Equipment Needed: Solid understanding of dog behavior, good leash management skills, and a constant concern for the safety of our dogs and the other volunteers. Reliable transportation is required to GRRAND’s kennel at The Pet Station Country Club (7924 Vine Crest Avenue, Louisville, KY 40222). Time commitment is flexible. We need volunteers throughout the day, 7 days a week, so you can choose times that work best with your schedule.

GRRAND's Volunteer Family Tree Needs Additional Hands! Can you give us a hand? We are looking for folks to represent GRRAND at public events. The overall mission is to greet people at the event who want to know more about GRRAND. We have a variety of flyers to provide if someone is interested in volunteering, adopting or just curious about who we are. There are several volunteer needs at these events, and they are listed below. Each event is different and the resources required range from a simple set up to a more complex arrangement. You will be working with other people so don’t feel that you must have all the skills listed below. It’s a team effort! Outgoing personality with good communication skills Some knowledge about GRRAND and our mission Check-in assistance if a ticketed event Decorating Serving assistance if food and beverage served Set up and tear down tables, chairs, tents, or whatever equipment is needed for the event Volunteers are Needed for these Upcoming Events: October 16th, Bark in the Park, Seneca Park October/November 2021, Trivia Night (date & location to be announced) November 12, The GRRAND Affair, Mellwood Art Center February/March 2022 Have-a-Heart Celebration for GRRAND dogs adopted during 2020/2021 (date & location to be announced)

Golden Retriever Rescue and Adoption of Needy Dogs (GRRAND) mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home Goldens and needy dogs that have been abandoned, abused, or neglected along with those who are the victims of changed life circumstances such as financial hardship, divorce, allergies, relocation, illness, or death.

Description

We rescue golden retrievers, golden mixes, and other needy dogs and provide both medical care and if needed behavioral training prior to placing them in screened adoptive homes. We have a presence in the greater areas of Louisville, Lexington, Cincinnati, and Dayton.
