Mission Statement

The Boston Police Foundation supports the brave men and women of the Boston Police Department by funding vital programs, equipment and technological capabilities to improve safety for our city and her police officers.

Description

OUR GOAL

To advance public safety for the City of Boston’s residents, visitors and businesses by strengthening the performance, competence and professionalism of its police department. Approximately 88% of the Department’s budget goes directly to salaries for uniform and civilian personnel, and our city’s safety cannot rest on the shoulders of dwindling government funding. Please join us in our important work by contributing as generously as you can.

Contributions to the Boston Police Foundation are tax-deductible under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Note: None of the Foundation’s funding goes toward Department salaries, pensions or overtime.

OVERVIEW

The Boston Police Foundation was formed in 1993 to provide private financial support for critically needed resources to the Boston Police Department, the oldest police department in the country. Our supporters help fund special equipment, advanced training, new technology, officer safety and wellness, and youth outreach programs not covered in its annual budget.
