Alma del Mar is an inclusive, K-8 Expeditionary Learning school that puts New Bedford students on a college trajectory and challenges them to be service-minded leaders.

By engaging in a rigorous academic program with an emphasis on meaningful work, our students will master essential skills and content, take ownership of their learning and think boldly while addressing complex academic and community issues.

Description

In August 2011, Alma del Mar opened its doors to 120 New Bedford scholars in kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. Over the next seven years, Alma del Mar will grow to serve 360 scholars in grades kindergarten through eight.

Scholars at Alma del Mar:

  • Are taught by talented and passionate teachers over an extended school day and year that will result in 25% more learning time.
