Mission Statement
Non-Violence: Peace Begins With Me, is a movement about making the voice of non-violence louder than the voice of violence. Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., Desmond Tutu, were all inspired by non-violence and led movements of social change rooted in this principle. Non-violence is about more than not physically harming people. It's saying, peace begins with me. When I'm stressed, angry or aggressive, that's what I spread. However, when I am taught self-awareness, meditative tools and human values; then I can spread nonviolence. In 2013, NONVIO is much needed in Philadelphia. We are training organizers who would like to join this real movement for change . A number of teams are available for those who have interest. Let's bring a wave of Non-Violence to the City of Brotherly Love!
Description
In Philadelphia, our work includes the efforts a diverse group of individuals including teachers, financial professionals, medical professionals and concerned citizens. We partner with both individuals and organizations to promote non-violence. We offer workshops in schools, universities, corporations, non-profits, the general community as well as open partnerships. We are working to spread nonviolence through public events and hope to bring together modern advocates of this movement in a town hall forum.
