Mission Statement
Recognizing the potential of every child, we pledge pragmatic action to overcome cyclical poverty and injustice. We build a supportive community where underdeveloped children are encouraged to exemplify respect, demonstrate love, exercise responsibility, and build self-esteem.
Description
The Joan Rose Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization recognized in both the Dominican Republic and the U.S. We're located in Esperanza, a small rural town outside of Santiago. The foundation was started by David Palmer in October 2010.
Lunch, education, and supervision are provided 5 days a week from 10:30am-4pm. Medical check-ups and expenses are taken care of as needed, as well as clothing, shoes, sandals, health and school supplies.
The children receive math, language, and English classes along with guidance and mentoring from volunteers, teachers, and staff, who are made up of people of Dominican, Haitian, and American descent.
