Rockwall Community Playhouse, founded in January 1995 and located at 609 E. Rusk, Rockwall, Texas, is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization operated by and for the members of the Rockwall community and surrounding areas and is dedicated to the enrichment of our spirits through the experience of live theater.
In addition to producing a minimum of 4 mainstage plays each season, we provide theater support, assistance, and educational programs to the schools. Additionally, we offer new opportunities for instruction and experience in theater arts as well as provide free programs and entertainment for service organizations. Through our Teen and Children' s theater program, we continue to introduce many youths to the joy of creative theater fellowship.
The mission of Rockwall Community Playhouse is to " promote and produce live theater for educational, charitable and entertainment purposes" . We annually supplement our regular production season with several special events designed to attract new audiences to special forms of theatrical entertainment. Such events have included our annual fall fundraiser and talent showcase, Shakespeare festival, one-act dinner theaters, and annual Awards Gala. Additionally, RCP volunteers frequently provide service clubs in the community with programs and performances at no charge.
We seek to broaden horizons, promote greater understanding, raise questions and stimulate questions through the theater experience. Through our continually expanding volunteer network, we nurture a dynamic and loyal bond among people of all ages, backgrounds and walks of life as they learn and work together in the theater. Our productions have introduced numerous outside participants to the people and places of Rockwall, many of who continue to return time after time.
With our theater experience, we strive to help our participants develop and refine their language and communication abilities, problem solving skills, and creativity. In this, we try to promote a positive self-concept, social awareness, empathy, a clarification of values and attitudes, and an understanding of the art of theater.
