Description

The Sioux Empire Safety Villageis a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing injuries. It does so through education using tools such as its two permanent safety exhibits, the Power of Fire and the Safe House, located on the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds, mobile driving simulators, and its website.

Sioux Empire Safety Village also helps educate the public on other injury prevention and safety issues such as poisons, farm safety, and bike helmets. Educational programs are done at various events throughout the year including bicycle rodeos and the Sioux Empire Fair, where bike helmets are given out free of charge.

Overall, the curriculum of Safety Village focuses less on reacting to an emergency and more on the warning signs and how to modify behavior accordingly to prevent an injury. Sioux Empire Safety Village’s mission is to create safety awareness, promote life safety skills, and provide injury prevention and training through a community-wide partnership for the benefit of those in the Sioux Empire region.

Sioux Empire Safety Village is funded by grants and private donations.
