Mission Statement

Christ centered media ministry through which God is changing lives, strengthening families, impacting communities and transforming our world. Impacting Northern Michigan and portions of Ontario with non-commercial Christian Music and Programs. At present, we operate four stations and two translators reaching listeners across Northern Michigan and the Eastern Upper Peninsula and into Ontario.

Description

WPHN-90.5-FM, Gaylord - The ministry of Northern Christian Radio was birthed in the early 1980s when several Christian men felt a burden to have Christian broadcasting available in this area. A board was formed and WPHN 90.5 FM went on the air Easter Sunday in 1985. WPHN serves most of the Central and Eastern Lower Peninsula of Michigan as well parts of the Eastern Upper Peninsula.

WOLW-91.1-FM, Cadillac - In 1988, WOLW 91.1 FM was added to serve the Cadillac area. WOLW serves most of the Western Portion of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan.

WHST-106.1-FM, Tawas City - Then in July of 2001, 106.1FM in Tawas City was added to the Northern Christian Radio family. After years of praying, searching for a frequency and wading through red tape, we were surprised by an offer to purchase WHST. Formerly a secular commercial station, 106.1 can now be heard broadcasting life-changing Christian music and Bible teaching along the eastern side of the state from just south of Alpena through most of the Saginaw Bay region of the state.

WTHN-102.3-FM, Sault Ste. Marie - For many years Northern Christian Radio had been trying to place a station in the Sault Ste. Marie area. On January 29th 2005, 102.3 FM signed on the air. This station covers most of the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan as well as into Ontario covering both the US and Canadian cities of Sault Ste. Marie.

With these four stations, plus translators in Petoskey at 99.7 FM and Newberry at 88.7 FM, much of Northern Michigan receives Christian broadcasting. Further expansion is planned to fill in those areas not served by Christian radio, or where a Christian radio signal is not strong enough to be received clearly.
