Mission Statement

"To provide services and resources to respond to families in crisis in Bexar County and to improve the daily conditions of their lives."

Description

History

In June of 1997, ten local Hispanic United Methodist Churches in San Antonio, Texas founded the Hispanic Religious Partnership for Community Health. The founding churches, located in some of San Antonio’s poorest communities, had witnessed firsthand the despair that can come from poverty. Lacking the resources to be able to provide the much needed help on their own, they came together in a partnership to more adequately address the health and human services needs of families in their communities.

Present

Today, Texas Diaper Bank, formerly known as the Hispanic Religious Partnership for Community Health, Inc. operates three programs that address the health, wellness and basic needs of families. These programs help strengthen the lives of approximately 40,000 individuals annually:

Healthy Babies - promotes the well-being, healthy growth & development of babies through the provision of diapers, nutritional items, wipes, other baby items and education.

Healthy Seniors - promotes the well-being and healthy living of senior adults through the provision of diapers, nutritional items, other adult care items and education.

Hunger Relief - assures that families are able to meet their nutritional needs through emergency food assistance.

These program(s) services are provided directly to families or through partnerships with other nonprofit agencies.

Additional support services provided to families include:

  • federal benefits enrollment (SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, CHIP, WIC, & HOPE)
  • "My Healthy Child" classes enrollment
  • referrals to other agencies.
