Mission Statement

The mission of the Gift of Swimming is to provide swimming scholarships to the communityĆ¢ s underprivileged, mentally or physically challenged or otherwise disadvantaged.

Description

The Gift of Swimming was established as a 501(c)3 charitable organization in 2003 to address a serious gap in providing potentially lifesaving swimming training for disadvantaged and developmentally disabled children.

The Gift of Swimming works with local government and community agencies to provide swimming scholarships to disadvantaged children. These partner agencies identify children who will benefit and then coordinate their participation in The Gift of Swimming scholarship program. Each child's scholarship covers the cost of a comprehensive curriculum that includes water safety, swimming techniques, sports etiquette and physical fitness. Each child participates in approximately 25 individual sessions with a certified instructor at the support facility, SouthWest Aquatics.

Wonderful organization dedicated to teaching children to swim. Not only do they learn lifesaving skills, the children build their confidence and learn important team and social skills that serve them well.
