Description

Conceived on July 9, 1982, Teatro De Artes De Juan Seguin (El Teatro) was formed to address several civic issues. This concerns include the general population's lack of knowledge about the Seguin Mexican American community's history and cultural traditions; the lack of local agencies through which Mexican American leadership potential could be identified, encouraged, and developed; and the lack of Mexican American participation in the general community's sociocultural activities.

To address these concerns, El Teatro established two major goals: (1) to promote a better understanding of the Mexican American people and their culture, and (2) to provide the Mexican American people of Seguin, Guadalupe County, and the surrounding rural communities a responsible as well as creative outlet to contribute to the social life of the area.

Teatro offers many programs to the community. Some the programs we offer are Ballet Folklorico De La Rosa, Conjunto Juan Seguin, Noche De Gala Mariachi Singers Competition, Annual Recital, Hispanic Educators Merienda, La Mesa Latina (Dinner & Show), Viva Seguin Conjunto Festival, etc... To name a few.

Teatro was founded as a 501 (C)(3), tax exempt, non-profit corporation. As the history documents, Teatro has become a highly visible, active, and respected Mexican American community-based organization. As it completes its 24th year, Teatro continues to fulfill its primary purpose---to promote a better understanding of the Mexican American people and their culture
