LTC/LATC Mission

The Latino Theater Company (LTC) is committed to creating and producing passionate, truthful and professional world-class theater by developing and producing new Latino/a plays and playwrights; creating a professional family of skilled Latino Artists; and providing them with opportunities to exercise their craft. Situated in our new home in the Los Angeles Theatre Center (LATC), LTC is committed to creating a vibrant arts complex that will be a microcosm of Los Angeles; a destination center for those pursuing artistic excellence and a laboratory where both tradition and innovation are honored and honed. The new LATC, incorporating a theater, summer conservatory, Latino Museum of Art, History and Culture, and café will become a space where the convergence of people, cultures and ideas give birth to the future Los Angeles.

Description

The Latino Theater Company recently became the operator of the City of Los Angeles owned Los Angeles Theatre Center located in downtown Los Angeles in the Old Bank District. In addition LTC was awarded a $4 million grant from the California Cultural and Historical Endowment for renovation of the facility. After renoation, the Los Angeles Theatre Center will become an arts complex committed to becoming a meeting ground for contemporary multi-cultural arts and theater.

The Latino Theater Company has a 19 year history of creating and producing some of the most exciting main stage theater in the Los Angeles area. Founded in 1985 by Artistic Director, Jose Luis Valenzuela, the companies recent production of Dementia, garndered the presitgious GLAAD Award for Outstanding Theater Production in Los Angeles as well as four Ovation Award nominations in the mid-size theater category.
