Description
Through our web site, our toll free phone line and our animal welfare networking resources we are contacted by a variety of sources about English Bulldogs needing our care. These sources include individual families that need to give up their Bulldog, other shelters and rescue groups and the general public if they find a stray or aware of an abusive situation.
These Bulldogs enter our program and are immediately placed in a trained foster home. During this foster period, these Bulldogs are evaluated for medical and behavioral needs. All Bulldogs receive a medical exam and consultation with one of the leading Bulldog specialists in our area. All Bulldogs in our program are spayed/neutered and treated for acute illnesses or conditions as needed.
Our volunteers conduct a rigorous screening process on families that have applied to our organization to adopt a Bulldog. This screening process includes an application, vet/landlord reference check, a phone interview and an onsite visit to their home.
In most cases, the medical costs exceed the adoptions fees we collect so our volunteers are engaged in a variety of fundraising shows and events throughout the year to offset the cost of care.
