Mission Statement
To ensure all children in Gwinnett County have a loving, safe, and permanent home.
Description
The Judicial Citizen Review Panels work closely with the Judges of Gwinnett County to ensure that children who are in foster care have a safe and permanent home as soon as possible. Panels review the progress of the parent or custodian to see if they are meeting the established goals set by the court. The panels also monitor the work of the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS), to make sure that all necessary services are being provided to the family. The panels make recommendations to the Judges about what should happen next in the case. Judicial Citizen Review Panels work closely with DFCS, natural parents, legal guardians and the child(ren) to ensure compliance with the court ordered case plan and to make recommendations for any modifications. If reunificaiton of the family is not possible, then the panels may make recommendations for another form of permanency, such as adoption, placement with a fit and willing relative, or another planned permanent living arrangement. The Judges have the final authority.
