Mission Statement
The NYIC provides a range of social and informational services to the Irish, and Irish-American communities: such services include weekly organized social events for senior citizens and mothers & toddlers, information referrals to other agencies providing specialized services, and meeting facilities for Irish-oriented groups and organizations. The NYIC is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of the original four founding benefactors, and chaired by Fr. Colm Campbell. There is also a Management Board that oversees the various programs, facilities management and fundraising efforts conducted by the NYIC.
Description
The New York Irish Center (NYIC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located at 10-40 Jackson Avenue in Long Island City, provides a focal point for the Irish community in the metropolitan New York area. Founded in late 2004 by a consortium of four local Irish-born businessmen, the Center officially opened its doors on March 15th, 2006, with the Irish Minister for Transport, Michael Cullen, performing the grand opening ceremony.
