Mission Statement

WikiRendum aims to:

  • facilitate regular and constructive dialog between people and their elected representatives,
  • empower citizens to actively participate in shaping the society they live in,
  • drive decision-makers to be accountable towards their community,

by using information technologies and communication means of the web 2.0 .

Our long-term vision is to transform policy making from a politicians-centered model to an open, transparent debate involving citizens, field experts and policy-makers.

Description

WikiRendum is a democratic deliberation system aiming to increase the impact of public opinion on policy decision making.

WikiRendum offers a unique constructive deliberation process based on problem definition, collaboratively defined solutions, factual argumentation and votes. Web 2.0 features will allow users to connect to citizens or politicians with similar opinions, promote local participatory events and benefit from expert knowledge.

This system will allow opinions to be expressed peacefully and be visible to everybody. The most voted ideas will bubble up and - combined with a sound communications strategy - attract media and government attention, allowing them to be taken into consideration in policy formulation and political decision-making.
