Description

Cradle Beach, Inc. unites individuals and families, with a focus on empowering children with special needs and the underserved to become their best selves. We create opportunities for life-changing experiences in a safe and inclusive environment. Established in 1888, Cradle Beach is dedicated to providing innovative and outcome-based human services. Each year its programs change the life trajectories of up to 1,200 vulnerable individuals and families. Cradle Beach’s mission has evolved with the changing and unmet needs of the community surrounding it. Originally called The Fresh Air Mission, Cradle Beach emerged from the need to serve underprivileged youth from the City of Buffalo at a time when diphtheria, cholera, and typhoid were rampant. In 1946, Cradle Beach recognized a growing and unmet community need, to serve youth with disabilities while simultaneously serving disadvantaged youth. This inclusive program model created by Cradle Beach continues to be a distinguishing factor of success across our multiple programs. Each program offered by Cradle Beach is directly tied to our mission of service and organizational excellence. Cradle Beach’s staff is comprised diverse professionals and paraprofessionals from across the US and the world who come from backgrounds similar to the campers. Cradle Beach campers unite and learn about each other’s differences, and celebrate those differences together.
